So you’re planning to attend AWS re:Invent 2024. You might be asking yourself, “How can I get the most out of AWS’ premier conference?” Consider this your official guide to navigating one of the cloud industry’s biggest events.
AWS re:Invent is known for its scale and variety, from deep technical dives to networking opportunities. It’s also known for being a marathon of a week.
Attendees can expect keynotes led by AWS leaders and customer guest speakers, over 2,000 sessions covering everything from AWS solutions to emerging trends, and hands-on opportunities like workshops, chalk talks, and builder sessions. There’s also dedicated time with AWS partners to discuss your cloud challenges, receptions hosted by sponsors where you can make new connections, and some good old fashioned fun including DJs, live music, games, and dancing at the re:Play closing party.
Tackle’s official re:Invent Survival Guide is here to prep you for the week of learning, opportunities, and chaos ahead. We’ll cover:
- What to pack
- How to come up with a game plan for the week
- What and who you can expect to see from Tackle
Let’s dive in.
What to pack
AWS re:Invent is a marathon, not a sprint. To make the most out of the week, make sure you’re properly equipped with all the right stuff. Make sure you bring:
- Comfortable walking shoes – Did we mention it’s a marathon? You’ll be walking a lot, so be sure to pack shoes you’re comfortable walking and standing in for long periods of time. Our advice? Leave your cute heels or that new pair of shoes you’ve been meaning to break in at home, and go for your most reliable pair.
- Company gear – Rep your company gear! It’s an easy conversation starter and brand builder for when you’re in sessions or at a happy hour.
- Something to take notes on – Conversations with peers and AWS partners happen everywhere; at breakfast, drinks, the booth. Let’s be honest… half the time you won’t remember to “write it down later,” so just jot it down while it’s fresh and have all your notes from the conference in one spot.
- Plenty of snacks and water – The days can be long and hectic, and it’s sometimes hard to find time to sit down for a meal. You’ll want to have protein bars, nuts, or other snacks that pack a punch to fuel you. And be sure to hydrate along the way!
Have a game plan
Before you get thrown into the chaos of the week, spend some time thinking about what you want to get out of the event. Spend some time:
- Setting goals. AWS re:Invent offers so much—networking events, 2,000+ learning sessions, keynotes, vendor booths, product launches, etc.—that it can be overwhelming. Before you get there, spend some time setting specific goals around what you want to learn and who you want to meet. Coming up with a game plan will help you get the most out of the week and you’ll avoid getting sidetracked or overwhelmed by choice overload.
- Registering early. Often, the most popular sessions fill up quickly, so you’ll want to be sure to register early. Map out your “must attend” sessions and labs, and register early to make sure you’re all set to be part of sessions that align with your goals.
- Mapping out a schedule. Once you’ve set your goals and registered early for sessions, create a loose schedule for yourself– “loose” because you want to be sure to allow for some flexibility. You might want to spontaneously pop into a session you didn’t know about, grab a meal with a new connection, or whatever other opportunities speak to you while you’re there. Leave yourself time for spontaneity (and some breaks here and there so you don’t burn out).
- Download the AWS Events app. The AWS app will be your best friend for scheduling, maps, and real-time alerts. Be sure to have it in your pocket to get session reminders, venue change updates, and the ability to adjust your schedule on the go.
What to expect at the Tackle Booth
Another “must attend” item to add to your schedule? Visiting the Tackle booth, of course!
This year, the Tackle booth will be sporting an arcade theme with nostalgic video game branding and swag. We’ll be doing product demos that allow you to get a hands-on feel for our platform and features up close. You can also learn more about our exciting recent product launches, which include things like:
- How Tackle works with the AWS Partner Central API for Selling. This is huge for Tackle customers; they will benefit from AWS’ new co-sell API, providing smoother co-sell operations and increased efficiency. This is a big deal because it’s historically been difficult to sync Salesforce opportunities in real-time, due to the previous AWS S3-based integration. Tackle customers can rest easy knowing Tackle uses this new API to make sure your data is always in sync with ACE.
- AWS foreign currency. Tackle now supports multi-currency AWS transactions in British Pounds, Euros, Japanese Yen, and Australian Dollars. This update streamlines transactions for global customers, helps companies bypass revenue loss due to exchange rates, and drive AWS Marketplace private offers and co-sell.
- Tackle’s Accelerate² program. This program helps ISVs speed up the process of qualifying for and joining the AWS ISV Accelerate (ISVA) Program, which provides you with co-sell support and benefits to connect with AWS field sellers globally to drive co-sell at scale.
- The week of re:Invent, we’re launching a new and updated Cloud GTM functionality designed explicitly for AWS ISV partners. Come learn all about this new functionality at our booth!
